This sculpture represents Jesus crucified. The following scriptures are the reason I chose to do and use what I did to create this sculpture.
7'10" tall by 6" long by 2'10" wide. Steel and concrete.
The stone for the base of this sculpture is the base for our old clothesline pole. It was pulled out of the ground, useless and discarded. It now becomes useful and the foundation on which this whole sculpture is based.
Psalm 118:22 The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "'The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? Acts 4:11 Jesus is "'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.' 1 Corinthians 3:11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
The reason I built a Jesus crucified sculpture on this stone foundation and not something else.
Matthew 7:24-27 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
The reason I chose to put the fuse box on the back of Jesus is because power goes into a fuse box from outside and it is divided up and distributed throughout the house from that point. This allows all the equipment in the house to have that power and do work. Jesus’ power comes from heaven and he is the fuse box, giving us the same power that he has been given. And ALL power comes from heaven, no one else gives power except God.
Luke 24:49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 19:11 Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."
The reason I used the kerosene heater for the main body of Jesus is because Jesus is the light of the world. The fire of the kerosene heater is located where Jesus’ heart would be because it also provides heat as well as light and that heat radiates out from the core just like Jesus’ love radiates out to us from his heart. Light by which we can see who he is and not be in darkness and love that we might be comforted.
Luke 8:16 "No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Matthew 5:15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. Luke 11:33 "No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Mark 4:21 He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand? John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
I chose to make this Jesus sculpture from junk, from scrap stuff because he takes the useless things and makes them useful. He takes all the things men see as weakness and makes them strong, useful and unified as one body in Christ.
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
I took twisted and bent old junk and made it new because…
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Philippians 2:15 so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky
