Did you know I have a retail store? September 05, 2016 11:34
On May 31st I opened my first retail store! 101 E. Main St. Syracuse, Indiana, U.S.A. After three months of being open I am so happy with the traffic that has come through the seemingly little town of Syracuse. True we have the largest natural lake in Northern Indiana with some of the nicest vacation homes on the lake. It is some what of a resort town but the traffic from 31 different states and 2 countries has blown me away! I had no idea.
I grew up in this town and graduated Wawasee High School in 1991 before I moved to Alaska on a swimming scholarship to the University of Alaska, Anchorage. I lived there for over half my life, 22 years. When our second child was about to be born we were living in Albuquerque, New Mexico and my parents said why don't you move home, we have three empty bedrooms. So, after being gone from North Webster, Indiana for 25 years my family moved back into the bedroom I grew up in, well, that bedroom actually belongs to my daughter now.
I have been selling artwork and handbags online for the last seven years and taking commissions even longer than that but when my wife and I saw the corner building with it's beautiful black marble exterior and giant plate glass windows we felt this was the place to start. It's not 5th avenue in New York but it's the first step towards that.
So, if you need a destination, come see me, if you are in the area anyway, come see me. It is set up like an art gallery and you will definitely enjoy your time here. When you are done you can go have lunch at M the Market across the street, meat, cheese and pantry staples. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's typical Midwestern, this is a gourmet shop and I graduated high school with the owners.
